Choosing a book:

The easiest way to choose a book is to click on the table of books below the citation text field. The book name will appear in the text field. A book can be entered from the keyboard by either by its English name or abbreviation:

Book names and abbreviations are case-insensitive. That is, deut, DEUT, deuteronomy, and dEUTERONOMY are valid entries for the book of Deuteronomy.

Choosing chapters and verses:

Six different formats are available to specify a citation. Only these formats are accepted, all others will produce error messages. To view the entire book, usually not a good idea, enter a single asterisk, '*'. The general format is b c:v where b is the book, c is the chapter, and v is the verse. A dash, "-", indicates a range of values. If the specified book, chapter, verse doesn't exist, an error message is given. This message also gives the limits on the chapters or verses in the citation. Indicies are positive, starting at 1, not zero.

Caution: Wide ranges are slow to display!
b c:v1 - v2 Single chapter:Verse range Book b, chapter c verses v1 through v2.
b c1:v1 - c2:v2 Chapter:Verse range Book b, from chapter c1, verse v1 to chapter c2, verse v2.

A citation may not specify more than one book. Blanks may be omitted.
