Hebrew fonts:

Installation of a Hebrew font is not essential for most site operation due to inclusion of a web font as the default font. User-installed fonts are still possible, but are necessary only to produce ODT files.

The default font for the site, Taamey D Web, is a web font derived from from Taamey D.ttf by Ben Denckla. It distinguishes between the yerah ben yomo and the atnah hafukh accents and has been designed to minimize collisions of marks. The Taamey D font may be downloaded as a user-installed font here: Taamey D.ttf (License).

Another font that distinguishes between the two accents is the Shofar font by Yoram Gnat, z'l. The Shofar font may be downloaded as a user-installed font here: ShofarRegular.ttf (GNU-GPL license, License).

Other Hebrew fonts can be installed if desired. Two good fonts are: SBL Hebrew, and Ezra SIL; neither of these fonts distinguishes between the yerah ben yomo and the atnah hafukh accents, however.

User-installed fonts must be entered into the site after installation on the user's computer. Go to the Book page and click on the Change font item in the "Font family" pulldown list. This brings up the "Change the Hebrew font" page. Enter the font family name and enter RETURN. The entered font will display Hebrew text throughout the site. A font can be compared with the SBL Hebrew font via the Test font item in the "Font family" pulldown list.

An entered font is saved as a cookie and needs to be set only once.

Suggested web browsers:

The free, popular Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox browsers fully display the site on all operating systems. Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) browsers are not supported for any version or system.
